July was brutal. It was incredibly hot and I wasn’t always able to run at night. I skipped tons of runs this month due to a mix of being busy, a bit of laziness and the heat. Despite that, I still did quite well on my first 10K race.

Running Stats for June 2011
Happy Canada Day!
June was a really good month for me. It’s not too terribly hot … yet. We’ll see what happens next month.
Running Stats for May
May was a great month. I doubled the mileage I did in April in a pretty safe manner. I haven’t had any pain other than a bit of hip pain after my long runs and muscle pain after the race I did on May 14th. I am getting better at listening to my body and being careful to cool down and stretch. I know how important that is now.
I’m looking forward to my 10K race on July 23rd, which is what I am working toward now. I decided to go with the Runner’s World SmartCoach program because that seems to be the most flexible since it’s software driven. Once I finish the 10K and do a week of recovery, I will start training for the half marathon in October.
Running Stats for April
I think it’s been a good month. I went from not running at all, to running 6.1K. I can definitely tell that my body is adjusting to running. Now, I run for 10 minutes and walk for 1. I can probably run longer, but I think this is a smart strategy, especially since my body is still getting used to this.
