Running Room 5K Clinic

I have officially lost my mind. I signed up for the 5K program at my local Running Room. I probably should have signed up for the Learn to Run program first, but I am way too impatient for that.

I bought a pair of Nike Zoom Vomero+ 4s because I didn’t have appropriate shoes for running on sidewalks. The treadmill is a lot more forgiving than concrete.

My first run with the group was a lot harder than the run I last did on the treadmill. Outside > Treadmill. I made the mistake of running too fast to keep up with people who I now know run longer races. The first thing I learned then, is about pacing. The second thing I learned is that I need water when I am working that hard.

I fell back and ran much slower out of necessity. Those 5 minutes of running toward the end of the run felt like eternities. We’ll see how things go over the next couple of weeks.

Before the run, I saw someone using RunKeeper. She couldn’t say enough about how good it was, so will try using it on my subsequent runs. I was using Nike+ GPS but it seems to be a bit limited.
